Splashes of colour lighting up our sport
Find out in the story listed lower on this page why young people have designed the four shoe pairs Rory McIlroy is wearing on Tour this week; it’s all for a great children’s cause. We love the zinging colours of these shoes and hope they’ll help Rory to chase some eagles and birdies at Royal County Down today when he tees it up at 1pm.
Golf fashion should always be about colour and fun, and ditto golf, but often it is the youngsters who remind us that it is actually OK to take the big crayons out of the drawer a little more often.
A small but growing number of golf fashion brands are delivering on outstanding colour ideas – seen to be just as vital as the buttons and thread – along with performance, feel and fit. Colour is a big theme of our next 100-plus page issue of Cutting Edge Golf which comes out in July – the golf fashion and style magazine that puts apparel, shoes and accessories centre-of-the-fairway for our retailer readers, creating a unique platform to talk about golf fashion to an industry audience.
As for Rory this week, who’d still bet against him winning the Irish Open on Sunday wearing a pair of blue, green, yellow, pink and white shoes!
